The 2011 season was a successful one for Saint Cast, with the number of overseas visitors calling in the port significantly on the increase.
More that 2800 boats called at the port during the period June, July and August, an increase of 415 overnight stays, up 20% over the same period in 2010.

Calls of a week’s duration or more were also up, with an increase of 68 visits over the same period in 2010.
The attractiveness of a visit to the port is set to continue, thanks to a number of projects that are in the pipeline,

And it’s not only seafaring folk who find Saint Cast an attractive place to visit. A few weeks ago a seal swam into the marina. As it was a little under the weather, Oceanopolis took it into its care centre to nurse it back to full health.

Ongoing Marina developments...

This Spring, a 1500 m² careening zone, at present under construction and funded by the Saint Cast municipal authority, will be open for business.
The facility will be able to take up to 8 vessels at a time and the C.C.I. will install a 20 ton capacity boat hoist and a 2.5 ton capacity dismasting/masting davit.
The construction of a fish storage facility and waste collection and recycling plant is also planned for the Terre-Plein des Vallets.

Our Certification is just around the corner !

For the past few months the marina team has been working on the environmental performances of the port infrastructure, and has high hopes of receiving its ISO 14001 accreditation in the Spring.
Certain developments in this respect have already taken place, including solar panels for providing hot water for the shower block, a detector system for water leakage on the pontoons, led lighting…..
The aim over the next two years is to decrease our energy consumption and to improve the sorting and recycling of the marina’s waste.
We are counting on you to help us in our efforts!

“EcoWatt Bretagne” ; the way to conserve energy

To better control our energy use, the port supports the Ecowatt Bretagne initiative.
Based on community support, the Ecowatt initiative sets out to urge everyone living or visiting Brittany to moderate their energy consumption, particularly during the cold weather peak period from 5pm to 8pm. The marina office will be updated in real time during periods of high energy consumption. Should there be a peak in demand, electricity supply to the pontoons could be cut, although any such  power cuts should be of short duration and very infrequent.

Beware of excessive consumption !

We have noticed an excessive rise in electricity consumption caused by the use of a significant number of electrical appliances, including heaters and freezers….When you are not on board we would ask you to switch off all such appliances. Measures will be taken to control any excessive consumption.

For your safety and peace of mind

Here are a few reminders as to how you can make your stay as enjoyable as possible while ensuring safety for all :
- Continued efforts should be made to ensure that the port speed limits are respected :
5 knots in the entrance channel and 3 knots in the port. Regular radar speed checks will continue to monitor the marina for any infringements.
- For boats with outboard motors, these must be kept permanently lowered.
- It is strictly forbidden to fish or use keep nets or lobster and crab pots within the confines of the port.
- The transport of more than 20 litres of fuel is forbidden.
- Do not forget to secure your halyards to avoid causing annoyance to others.
